SOUNDBITE [Taleshi] Martyr’s Father: “I'm an old man. I'm not getting any younger.

-Speak all in Taleshi. You don't need to speak in Farsi at all.

All right, in Taleshi.

How to understand me?

-Through subtitles.

My son was my first child. As he was growing up, he decided to work as a mechanic. So he left school. One day, he came up to me and said that he wanted to go to military service.”

SOUNDBITE [Taleshi] Martyr’s Mother: “He had 60 days to finish his military service when he came to me and said, "Mom, I want to go." He said goodbye and went away. Another day he came to me and said, "For the third time, shrapnel has hit me in the head." I asked, "What has happened?" He replied, "Shrapnel has hit me in the head." I told him, "Don't go there, Hussein, my dear child." He said, "But I have to go. Many have martyred and I should die on this path. Why are you worried?" I said, "How should I not be worried, I'm your mother." He said, "No, don't be worried about me, I have to go." He was sent to the Mehran Front where he was martyred.”

SOUNDBITE [Taleshi] Martyr’s Father: “He didn't see his own child. When his child was born, he had been martyred.”

We sacrificed him for the sake of God and the country. He went and was martyred. That was our duty to let him go. Well, that was a thing of predestination.”

SOUNDBITE [Taleshi] Martyr’s Mother: “I prayed, I went everywhere, I went to the doctor, I went here and there because one of my children could not have a child for seven years. I did everything, I made sacrifices and he finally had a child. Now he has two children. I love them. I prayed and begged God. I said, "I have this request from You. You can either disappoint me or make me happy." He made me happy. I would sacrifice myself for the name of Imam Husayn.”

SOUNDBITE [Taleshi] Martyr’s Neighbor: “Our neighborhood is small. Its inhabitants are kind and faithful. They are all practicing Muslims. They have good relationships with each other. We have no problems with each other. We are with each other at wedding and mourning ceremonies. A few of us sing elegies for Imam Husayn at mosque in a simple, local language. The month of Muharram is a different month. I go to mosque to sing elegies for Imam Husayn but I cannot tell you well what I really feel at heart. I passionately sing elegies for Imam Husayn during breast-beating ceremonies ... for Imam Husayn in the month of Muharram.”

SOUNDBITE [Taleshi] Martyr’s Neighbor: “I can still remember the first elegy for Imam Husayn that I heard from the loudspeaker. Since then, I decided to sing elegies for Imam Husayn in order to make my heart calm down. Perhaps, no one can understand my passion. Since I sing elegies and have seen its effects in my life, I can say that both the elegies and the passion for Imam Hussein are deep in my heart. The passion will never fade away.

Yes, thank you!

How about you and your father?

Well, my father has a small farm and I bought another person's farm, over there beside the kiwi fruit orchard.

Uncle Rahman is there with the man who has come from Gorgan. He's always with that man. They were sitting there talking with each other when I went there.

Dad was out of luck this year.”

Peace be upon Mohammad and his household!

Those who are ready for the breast-beating ceremony, please come to the middle of the mosque.”

Song:

“Here comes Husayn, the son of Zahra ...

Here comes Husayn, the son of Zahra ...

Here comes he all by himself ...

Here comes he all by himself ...

Amidst the tents is sitting Zaynab mournfully ...

The vicissitudes of life has broken Zaynab's heart ...

She whines from the bottom of her heart every moment ...

and says under her breath with weeping eyes ...

Here comes Husayn, the son of Zahra ...

Here comes Husayn, the son of Zahra ...

Here comes he all by himself ...

Hurry to the best deed!

The is no god but one God!

The is no god but one God!

Peace be upon our master Mohammad and his household.

Husayn the Innocent, the Blood of God ...

Husayn the Innocent, the Blood of God ...

Harmaleh, don't draw the sword and throw aside the arrow ...

Harmaleh, don't draw the sword and throw aside the arrow ...

Because a flower petal cannot survive the sword and the arrow ...

Got it? You have to sing part by part.

Sing this one, for example, to see if you can read it part by part.

Kind Ali Asghar ... sing.

Kind Ali Asghar, kind Ali Asghar , I'd sacrifice my life for you ...

They sky began to cry out, "O God, Ali Ashagr!"

He kissed your throat saying, "Your mother die for you!"

Excellent, that was very good!

It's good If you sing word by word like now. But you sing horridly. If you read word by word, you will have no problem at all.”
